Within the past 40 years the Lango language or Leblango, as it is called, has changed dramatically. This was not entirely a surprise. The people themselves have changed fundamentally within this same period. A good part of a generation or two was lost.

The last four months were pregnant with hope for an end to the Coronavirus pandemic. Several COVID-19 vaccines became available. Millions of people, mainly in the developed world, were vaccinated. Herd immunity was on the horizon, granted still far in an unpredictable future.

In the Jan 17 2015 issue of Nile Journal, an anonymous author (turned out John Otim) penned a thought provoking article entitled Dilemma of a small African culture and its language. The author describes how languages move from just being spoken to being spoken and written even in the era of electronic technology
